Coronavirus, "we are ready for the worst case scenario": italian Iss's president, an alarming statement

The "worst-case scenario? We are ready". That is in a few words Silvio Brusaferro statement, the president of Iss (the italian Istituto superiore di Sanità), interviewed on the radio broadcast Un giorno da pecora, on Rai Radio 1. Referring to the words of Tedros Adhanom, Brusaferro says: ""The spirit expressed by the WHO Director-General is that of maximum prudence and of preparing for even the worst scenarios, hoping that they will never occur. We are ready". Brusaferro, then, agrees that the contagions between people who have never been to China could be only "the tip of the iceberg". Alarming words, which suggest that the numbers released by China about the emergency could be sensationally underestimated. "Epidemics have their own course - explains Brusaferro -, we have developed simulation models that obviously travel with estimates made a priori but which then impact reality".
